A University-Industry Center of Competence for the Research in the field of Photovoltaics - Action 1.1.1 POR Veneto

The University of Padua has been dealing with renewable energy and solar power issues sine many years. In this context we promoted this initiative for the creation of a Center of competence of R & D and technology transfer in Photovoltaics.

The Center of Competence aims to be capable of supporting companies working in the Photovoltaic, acting as an attractor and a multiplier of initiatives aimed at R & D of new technologies, materials, devices, methods of manufacture and installation with the prospective of creating a Veneto Photovoltaic Center of excellence.

Over thirty researchers have been involved in its implementation, from five different departments: Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and Physics.

The Photovoltaic Center aims to bring together in a synergistic way the skills currently existing at the University of Padua, it will grow and may later develop into a major regional point of reference in the field of Photovoltaics and solar energy.

The activities are focused on silicon technology, in order to meet the demands of local industry. At the same time it will be launched R&D in the field of unconventional Photovoltaics particularly in the areas of thin films, polymeric materials, concentration Photovoltaics, and in the field of power electronics for the produced energy usage.
